Black Sapote. a member of the persimmon family is also known as chocolate pudding fruit or chocolate persimmon. The fruit is harvested while green and firm and allowed to ripen off the tree when it turns soft and goes from green to brown to black. Black sapote is eaten raw , blended in smoothies or added to cake batter, whip cream, icecream or banana breads. Sapote is full of vitamin C and A, and contains loads of minerals indicated by the dark color such as magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium and more.
